You are not your emotions

I Inspire Others To Change And Transform Culture.

Many of us believe we are our emotions.

We say things like I AM SAD, I AM SO HAPPY...

Not many of us have been taught how to WITNESS our emotions...

Or to OBSERVE how they come and go...

We then get caught in a trap of EMOTIONAL ADDICTION (Loop/Cycle).

Neuroscience has shown us that

emotions occur in the sub-mind + body for 90 seconds.

When we experience an intense emotion, most of us go into an unconscious state where we react to our own emotions.

Our body is rushed with a hormonal response and then we are protected by our nervous system from a perceived threat: FIGHT, FLIGHT, FLEE, or FREEZE mode.

Our minds begin to have racing thoughts that mirror our nervous system state...

We unconsciously keep ourselves re-living the same emotional state over and over again.

By doing this, we keep ourselves in the same REACTIVE BEHAVIORS.

We need to become more conscious of our emotions with no judgment and become a NEUTRAL observer.

You need to understand that your emotions are experiences that flow through your body and mind.

How to practice a new relationship with your emotions?

1. Witness the emotion and journal what it feels like (tight chest, heart racing...)

2. Explain it without judgment (I feel angry, resentful, scared, overwhelmed)

3. Breathe and pause (By breathing and then pausing, you are creating new neural pathways to allow for new responses.)
